Remotely Operated Core Sampler

Our latest drill system, the ROCS (Remotely Operated Core Sampler), is designed to be mounted on a work class ROV, making this tool one of the most flexible and economic ways of obtaining deep sea core samples.

ROCS core drills have been used in the exploration of cobalt-rich ferromanganese crusts, seafloor massive sulfides and other seabed mineral deposits. The system is ideal for recovering targeted core samples at extreme depths.

The multi-tool magazine and tooling options add flexibility and time savings to deep sea exploration operations.

Benthic Multi-coring System

The BMS (Benthic Multi-coring System) series is a product family of remotely operated robotic seafloor coring systems. BMS seafloor drills have a proven track record spanning decades and can be customized to the specific needs of the client. Our offerings include wireline and conventional rock coring systems with complete telemetry, hydraulic and electrical power solutions.

These systems can obtain samples in both hard rock and soft unconsolidated sediment materials. A full suite of sensors along with cameras and lights provide operators with excellent oversight of the drilling process. The flexible nature of our drill rigs allows for deployment on a wide range of vessels with various deck handling equipment.

Please contact us for further specification and case use examples.

BMS Seafloor Drill

The standard BMS configuration uses conventional coring techniques along with a rotary magazine to obtain 20-30m of core samples from the substrate.

Rated to depths of 6000m, the BMS set the world record for coring at depth (5815m) in 2006.

The capability and portability of remotely operated coring systems makes them a cost-effective alternative to drill ships for detailed sampling of the upper layers of the seafloor.

A-BMS Wireline Seafloor Drill

The A-BMS is a remotely operated seafloor coring system that uses wire-line drilling technology to drill deeper, faster, and with higher core recovery than conventional drilling methods.

The magazine holds the drill tools, rods, and casing and can be adapted to accommodate tools that can core up to 150 m.

Our wireline systems have been used extensively in the Bay of Bengal and Western Pacific since 2011
